Get yourself a copy of Writers Market 2007 and start reading. Also, go to Resolved Questions and search keywords publisher and publishing. You will find hundreds of answers to the same question. Print a bunch of them out and study them. The only way to become successful in the publishing business is advocating for yourself. You have a lot of work to do. I have given you the places to start.
