Why don't my budgies like each other?
I have 4 budgies, 3 males and 1 female. My violet male was dominant over the cobalt male he lived with, ans my pied female was dominant over the green male she lived with. The submissive birds really tried to love the others, but they get chased away. I recently bought a really big cage and pout all 4 birds together to see if they would pair up with a different bird, but they still don't feed each other, or sit next to each other on perches. I have 6 perches, 9 different toys, 2 large feed cup, 2 cuttle bones and mineral blocks, so I thought they wouldn't fight over anything. What should I do? I thought budgies were very affectionate with each other?
You know humans are a sociable species, do we all get along? No. A sociable species is on that is not solitary and assembles a hierarchy within themselfs, much like your budgerigars.
I know this must be frustrating but you may have to come to terms with the fact that they are different personalities.
