GOLF-HOW GET GOOD TORQUE OR WRIST COCK WITH SLOWER CONTROLLED SWING?
Seems like I need a pretty fast swing(feels like too much effort expended) to get proper uncoil and natural wrists cock. When I try to slow down with irons, I end up being all hands arms because upper body doesn't uncoil in the correct manner-there is no natural force unwinding the swing.
Many people consider a faster swing to be the entire answer for clubhead speed. In response to this, watch some videos of Fred Couples. Fred uses a very smooth TEMPO to achieve his great distance. The smoother the swing, the more clubhead speed. Please remember, smooth doesn't necessarily mean slow. I cured my similar problem by using the "Stack & Tilt" swing method. I try to set 70% of my weight on the front foot at set up. I keep a slower back swing to make sure my body-brain connection has time to make sure my hands are set and then I begin the downswing......here's the key point, don't charge at the ball, rather accelerate through it....kinda like stepping on the gas pedal on the entrance ramp to the freeway, not a hole shot at the drag strip. When I charge the ball, my body doesn't have time to let my hands get back to the ball and my weight stays back and boom....slice, shank, whatever. The better tempo will let your weight shift, and your hands release which helps add distance. Best of Luck!
