Conure afraid of bird jungle gym?!?
We just bought a small perch gym for our conure. It has several toys for her to play with, bells ropes, small mirrors and treats. She seems extremely scared of it though. Whenever we get her near it at all she starts trying to fly away (which doesn't turn out well since her wings are clipped). I don't understand why she is so scared of it. She is also scared of her swing in her cage. Any ideas? Anything we can do? Birds are supposed to like stuff like that right?
Try placing the gym closer & closer to her cage a little bit (daily or few days) as she gets used to it, move it closer. another thing you can try is to play with her toys WHILE she is watching you, play with the swing & the gym so she can see that you are having fun with it. do not force her to go to the gym, or swing, eventually she will go to them, she just needs more time. Try hanging a piece of fruit from the swing, place her favorite treat on the playgym.
