there's always little flies with red eyes flying around my parrots cage what are they?
My African grey parrot has been plucking his feathers but they cannot be mites i don't think because mites don't fly help please !!!
sounds like fruit flys. you need to scrub out the cage really well especially in the nooks and crannies. when feeding bananas, remove the skin, this attracts alot of fruit flys and birds don't eat the skin anyway. most dried fruit will not attract fruit flys unless it gets wet.
your grey may be plucking because the flys are bugging him, swarming around the food dishes. they won't hurt the bird but birds don't like them.
